5 Blissful Tips To Create A Spiritual Practise

Close your eyes.

Now tell me how you feel.

Are you feeling connected, aligned and at ease? Are you feeling happy, trusting and fulfilled?

If not, then read on gorgeous soul ....

What is Spirituality?

My definition of spirituality is that it is a very conscious way of living. For me, being spiritual is about infusing every moment with a wave of love and doing good in my life at every opportunity (and there are many of them). Being spiritual is about opening up and really experiencing the miracle that is life. Spirituality is not about waiting for one day of the week to express compassion and empathy, it is choosing to see the good in every person and situation. Put simply, it is a way of being.

What are the Benefits?

If I cast my mind back to 2010 I can remember being the girl who covered over her feelings and lived with a deep level of internal anxiety. I worried about everything. I worried about the direction that my life was heading in and I feared I would never find my bliss. I lived life in an external kind of way. My belief was that things happened to me and I had no control over my life. I believed that I would find happiness in people and things and so my search for happiness was never ending. The goal post kept moving every time I got an inch closer to it. It was frustrating and it brought an element of sadness and loneliness.

Spirituality has changed everything.

Here are my Top Benefits of Practise -

1. Ever dreamt of lifting the fog and mist from your mind and wiping the lens clean? Envision a life of clarity that makes you blessedly sharper.

2. You are a soul with a body. Practise allows you a quieter and deeper relationship with your internal self.
3. Your perspective on life shifts and you are able to step back and examine your world on a broader scale.
4. Spirituality is your life vest in the face of emotional storms. Practise helps to keep you afloat and prevents you from capsizing.
5. Practise is one of the easiest and simplest way to inject and amplify joy and bliss in your life.
6. Life can throw challenges at us from time to time. Spirituality creates a sense of grounding and steadiness.  Your level of calm allows you to think clearer and more precisely.
7. Most of all, it connects you so intimately with your true spirit. It flips the switch and allows your divine spark to shine brightly. You smile inwardly and downloading intuitive messages becomes a second nature.

More and more I am feeling a generally shift in people becoming more willing and open to introducing Spirituality into their lives. My beautiful friend Tara Bliss described it as 'waking up to life'. I couldn't agree more!
Being a Spiritual person is not as difficult as you would expect either. All it requires is a willingness, an openness and a conscious decision to show up for yourself. Easy right?!

5 Blissful Tips To Create A Spiritual Practise

1. Throw down the F-Word.
Not that f-word, but Forgiveness. Forgive everyone and anything that's ever hurt you or let you down. Forgive the people who left your life, the people you felt rejected by; forgive the person who jumped the queue, the job you didn't get or opportunity that passed you by. Forgiveness is a letting-go process and stands to benefit you in ways you cannot imagine. Holding on to resentment, hurt, anger and sadness weighs you down. Holding space for negative experiences keeps them alive and attracts more of them to you. You are not the people who hurt you or the things you have experienced, it is time to put them to bed. Let them go.
2. Crank up your Gratitude Meter.
Gratitude has the tremendous ability to transform our lives. It costs nothing and yet, it will bring abundance to every area of your life. In fact, your life will feel so overflowing in the good stuff that you will want to share and give your joy to so many people. Gratitude turns what we have into enough. Focusing on the things that we don't have creates a mindset of lack. We can feel hard done by or victimised. Reminding ourselves of what we do have is so beautifully humbling it changes us on a cellular level. That energy attracts more things to be grateful for. Keep a journal and write one thing that your thankful for everyday or take photos and keep a Gratitude Album. Watch your life transform.
3. Follow your Bliss
This is something that surprised me about my spiritual practise. The more that I spent time doing the things I loved I would find myself in a creative flow. I would feel an overwhelming sense of connectedness. What I have come to realise is that by following my bliss and doing what I love, I am connecting with my soul. Anything that makes you come alive is spirituality baby! Find the things that you love doing and invest your time in them. Happiness and joy await you.
4. Be Present
Our lives have become dominated by excessive use of technology. We're always plugged in or scrolling. Making a conscious decision to be more present in your surroundings can be part of your practice. You have five senses - use them! Be aware of your taste, smell, touch, sight and hearing. Plug out of the web and plug into your life. Amplify your presense and bring more passion to every day tasks. Listen intently when someone speaks, look up when out walking, enjoy your meals. The more passion you bring to the life you're living the more aligned you will feel.
5.  Take 5 for You
I used to believe that being spiritual would require a huge amount of my time. I thought I would have to spend hours meditating and living like a hermit. This couldn't be further from the truth, but what I have learnt is the importance of making time for myself, especially during times of unheavel and change. Investing in your self-care allows you to connect and go-within. It allows you to become gentler and kinder with yourself. Taking even 5 minutes out of your day to close your eyes for a few moments can help you achieve a calmer and steady presence in your life. Our world is a reflection of your innerselves. Cultivating an inner harmony brings balance and joy to our reality.

  2. Fabulous post Jenn, I love your modern view on spirituality, it's so refreshing. Your point 4 is very important to me, I find being present and mindful is what really makes a difference. Too often I want to jump into the future that I for get to enjoy the current moment. Getting out to nature is one of my spiritual practices, I love the energy and power of the ocean and trees and feel super connected and grounded when I'm around these places. The ocean is also important to me because it connects me to home :)

    1. Totally on par darling. I used to always look to the future and I found that my happiness was always there too, never in the current moment. This step has been fundamental in creating a spiritual practise. Connecting with nature too is so powerful isn't it? It's so wise! Nothing is as relaxing or as calm as an ocean x
